The Turku 2011 Foundation pledges to introduce a new aspect to the festivities of the Night of Ancient Bonfires. The aim is to bring people from the Baltic countries together in a joint chain of bonfires as an effort to look out for the well-being of the Baltic Sea.

The Capital of Culture, Turku 2011 invites you to join its volunteer programme

Volunteers will assist in a variety of tasks from large-scale events to communications and first aid services. Turku 2011 Foundation will endeavour to assemble the volunteers throughout 2010.

Turku 2011 has signed six new corporate co-operation agreements

New corporate partners strengthen the marketing, sales and implementation of the Turku 2011 programme

The new Turku 2011 partners are MTV Media, Clear Channel, Turun Sanomat, Lippupiste, Puustelli, and Muuttopalvelu Niemi. With the addition of these agreements, the value of Turku 2011’s corporate co-operation has reached a total of approximately two million euro.

Turku 2011, has announced the winners of the National Student Award category as part of its comprehensive media art competition. The jury evaluating the works narrowed the tough competition down to seven finalists, and selected The Third Eye as the overall winner.

Hartwall and Aura beer support Turku as European Capital of Culture

Beverage company Hartwall and the Turku 2011 Foundation have signed a main co-operation level agreement. Hartwall will be involved throughout the yearlong cultural programme. Hartwall’s Aura will also be the cultural capital’s official beer.

Get the ball rolling!

The Capital of Culture invites parties serving the public good to serve as 2011 Messengers

All interested parties serving the public good are being invited to get the Capital of Culture ball rolling. The 2011 Messengers are entitled to use the 2011 logo and can, simultaneously, to showcase themselves as an active part of the 2011 European Capital of Culture.
