In 2011, the Central Park of Culture and Exercise organized monthly events that combine culture and exercise.
The events provided fresh new ideas for combining culture and exercise for different age and target groups. The year of cultural exercise was launched with the premiere for the A Year of Exercise event in January. In February, the entire project programme was on display with the Wonderland of Exercise and Culture event for the entire family.
Spring activities included introducing the Cultural Exercise Routes to young people, organising an event for children and seniors and organising bicycle tours to various cultural locations. Summer activities included enjoying the River Aura by paddling and rowing.
As the summer turned to autumn, there was the Dream Park event, guided Cultural Exercise Routes and Cultural Orienteering. In the darkness of November the project guided students to find art in the dark by organizing an art orienteering campaign. The last event of the year was guided tours in the Christmas Market of the Old Great Square for the children, to get to know the elves of Turku.
