Turku365 is an urban art project that utilises and employs public spaces. The approximately 160 artworks of the project will be part of everyday life of the inhabitants of Turku in 2011. The artworks and performances, envisioned by the Turku365 artistic director Meiju Niskala, are carried out by approximately 2,600 fellow urban dwellers, hobbyists and artists.
The project team also features Finnish artists and international top names of urban art.
The urban art project is part of the Turku’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2011, and consists of four principal themes:
- Art Clinic (in Finnish)
- The Outdoor Department (in Finnish)
- Playmates (in Finnish) and
- Everyday explorers (in Finnish), which together form an inspiring and exhilarating continuum of urban art in Turku.
