Come and sit at a cafe table, look at the city. Do you see it changing? Now look at the street, the passers-by and the parks. Look closely and imagine. Who has walked here? Who used to live in that building? What kind of sound do the traffic lights make at night time?
The City Remembered is based on memories and personal histories in Turku, and the text and sound based work takes place in eight different cafes in Turku town centre. The work consists of eight books that work both independently and in relation to each other. During City Art Festival Olohuone 306,4km2 The City Remembered becomes alive as a performance on the main market square. The performance can be followed from Café Wiklund.
