Terms and Conditions of use of the Turku2011.fi service
These terms and conditions of use apply to the use of the www.turku2011.fi online service. Turku2011.fi is the introductory site to Turku’s Capital of Culture year. It uses texts, images and video clips for providing information about Turku 2011 news, events, programme projects and other relevant information. The www.turku2011.fi online service is administered by the Turku 2011 Foundation, and the programme project pages are updated by respective programme projects. Users of the www.turku2011.fi service can modify their personal information and comment on site contents.
The terms and conditions of use are subject to Finnish law.
Your use of the www.turku2011.fi online service must comply with these terms and conditions.
General obligations of users
As a user of Turku2011.fi, you accept the use of the www.turku2011.fi online service in accordance with laws, regulations, regulatory provisions and good practices. The user is responsible for keeping his or her username and password secure and for any use of the service with the username.
The online service forbids uploading or linking to content that is racist, offensive or otherwise illegal or against good practices. The online service forbids all kinds of spamming. The user must ensure that any content uploaded by him or her is free of viruses or malware that prevents or hinders the use of the online service.
The user is responsible for ensuring that any content uploaded or linked to the online service by him or her does not infringe the copyright, trademark right or other intellectual property right of a third party.
The Turku 2011 Foundation is entitled to take down any material from the online service it deems to be in conflict with these terms and conditions.
The user is responsible for any damage incurred by the Foundation due to the user failing to use the online service and the material therein in accordance with these terms and conditions of use, applicable law or good practices. Furthermore, the user is liable for damages to a third party including reasonable compensation for the original author in case claims are made against the Foundation concerning material uploaded or linked to the online service by the user.
Rights of the online service
The online service and the contents therein are copyrighted material. The user of the online service is not entitled to download, upload, copy, distribute, transmit, send, exhibit, sell, publish or otherwise use the content contained in the online service apart from the content owned by the user.
Any and all logos and other intellectual property contained on the site are the property of the Foundation or third parties, and the user is not entitled to use them in any way without the advance written consent of the Foundation or a third party concerned.
It is forbidden to use linked content found on the online service site as part of another website against good practices with regard to scope, representation, and other use conflicting with good practices.
Linked websites
The Turku 2011 Foundation is not responsible for any links to third-party websites found on the online service site. The user is responsible for understanding the terms and conditions of linked sites and complying with them. The Turku 2011 Foundation cannot influence linked sites or take responsibility for them.
Assignment of copyright
The user assigns to the Turku 2011 Foundation the global right to use without compensation any material uploaded or linked to the online service by the user. The Foundation is entitled to publish unedited or edited versions of the work for an unlimited period.
Processing of personal information
The website administration complies with the Personal Data Act (523/1999). The Foundation records any information provided by the user concerning him- or herself into a service record. A description of personal information files is available via the service website or upon request from the Foundation.
Personal information may be used to notify registered users of events, programmes and information related to Turku 2011. The user can contact the person responsible for the records if he or she does not want to receive any notifications. For purposes of developing the online service, statistical information such as the user’s IP address, time of accessing the site, visited sites and type of browser may be collected.
In the event that the administration of the site is assigned to the City of Turku or to a part of the Turku City Concern, the information of registered users may be assigned in its entirety to the City of Turku or to the part of the Turku City Concern. In addition, the Foundation can record other user information in accordance with the Personal Data Act. This will be indicated in connection with collecting the data.
Limitation of Foundation's liability and changes to service contents
The Turku 2011 Foundation aims to ensure that the contents of the www.turku2011.fi online service are correct and up-to-date. However, the Turku 2011 Foundation is not responsible for any damage due to the information presented on the online service site or unavailability of the service, including the following:
- Incorrect or incomplete information on the site
- Failure to publish submitted material
- Interruptions in or discontinuation of the online service
- Computer viruses, software bugs or other flaws
The Foundation is entitled to change the contents and terms and conditions of use of the www.turku2011.fi online service and discontinue providing the online service at any time.
