Seven international artists are set to organise an installation exhibition in the Halinen rapids area. The theme for the large-size artworks is boat.
The participating artists come from India, Hungary, Greece, Iraq, Syria and Israel.
The boat theme will form a symbolic framework for the exhibition. A boat is used for moving and departing, someone always stays onshore, but there is also always someone waiting in the next harbour. The boat unites people on the opposite shores of the sea. The various cultural backgrounds of the artists bring diversity to the interpretation and build an interesting set of installations.
Impressions and opinions sprouting from the exhibition will be gathered in the same context, also allowing the audience to give immediate feedback and share their thoughts.
The organisation behind the arrangements, EU-MAN (European Union Migrant Artists Network), is an international organisation which supports the work of emigrant artist and which was founded in Turku in 1997.
Amir Khatib acts as the curator for the exhibition.
