13. – 16.4.2011 SiltaKino Film Festival is part of The Bridge Builders project, a wide selection of performances of contemporary integrated art and culture, which belongs to the Turku 2011 European Capital of Culture programme.
SiltaKino - Film Festival with Focus on Disability
SiltaKino Festival programme includes features and short films about dealing with disability, difference, accessibility and the rights of minorities in different ways. The films do not necessarily have disability as their theme yet the festival has invited particular filmmakers who have first hand experience with disability.
SiltaKino (“BridgeCinema”) runs parallel to KynnysKINO, a biennial film festival that has been organized in Helsinki since 1997. Their main organizer is Kynnys ry (“The Threshold Association”), a national organization working for the rights of disabled people in Finland. The festivals are realized in collaboration with Ateneum / National Art Museum in Helsinki and Turku City Library.
