Self-portraits from Turku at Helsinki until January 15th
2000 & 11 Self-portraits give Turku a face of its own in art museums, galleries and public spaces as exhibitions introduce self-portraits created by Turku residents in workshops. 2000 & 11 SELF-PORTRAITS' exhibition is open at The Finnish Museum of Photography until January 15th.
The results of the self-portrait process form truly meaningful and perceptive images of the real people that live among us and capture a unique moment in the history of the city for the 2011 Capital of Culture year.
Workshops focusing on self-portraits and community art were led by artists of national and international fame. Some of the workshops were public and open to all, whilst other workshops were tailored to meet the needs of specific groups. Workshops were organised for many different techniques: photography, collage, painting, sculpture, drawing and video. Participants could also write or tell stories.
2000 & 11 SELF-PORTRAITS project's exhibition is open at The Finnish Museum of Photography until January 15th.
