Besides the Maritime Days schedule at the Port of Tallinn, the Lennusadam and Peetri harbours, a seaside promenade will open for pedestrians along with the Maritime Museum’s grand exhibition in the Lennusadam seaplane hangars, which are regarded as an architectural marvel and which will be opened in next year by KOKO Architects.
Turku and Tallinn - together for the Baltic Sea
Never before have concurrent Capitals of Culture been as close to each other in terms of geographical distance, culture, values or history.
The Capital of Culture year is a unique opportunity for both cities to present their culture, history and future, as well as the centuries-long cooperation in the Baltic Sea region.
Stories inspired by the Baltic Sea emerge in Turku and Tallinn joint programs. The current state of the Baltic Sea is highlighted in the Night of the Ancient Bonfires. The bonfires will be lit on 27 August for the well-being of the sea in the Baltic Sea coast at large.
