POLYGLOT video contest deadline extended!
NISI MASA is extending the deadline of the POLYGLOT online video contest to 5th January 2011! Do you speak video? Visit www.polyglot-turku.eu to submit your short film and view entries from young filmmakers across Europe!
Each short film submission must be max. 5 minutes length, and fit into one of 2 categories:
• Video Portraits (documentary) on My multilingualism.
• Video Poems (fiction) on The language I dream in.
In February 2011, the 18 winning filmmakers - selected by online voters and a special jury – will be announced. Their prize is to participate in the “Cine-Boat”: a two-week documentary filmmaking workshop travelling across the archipelago of Turku (Finland) in June 2011, to celebrate its status as European Capital of Culture.
The Cine-Boat and film festival: latest news
The participants will explore the beautiful archipelago and its islands in a trawler boat rented for the workshop. The boat will sleep the whole crew, with its own living facilities (bathroom, kitchen), a barbeque set for enjoying those long summer nights, and in true Finnish tradition, an on-board sauna!
The planned route (overnight stopovers will be made for some of the locations, in guesthouses):
Parainen > Nauvo > Kirjainen > Korppoo > Houtskär > Iniö > Nötö > Jurmo > Utö > Vänö > Rosala > Hiittinen > Högsara
In six international teams, the participants will make short documentary films guided by two professional tutors - one director and one editor. The focus will be portraying the communities of Swedish-speaking Finns, a linguistic minority living in the region which has its own distinct cultural identity.
The filmmakers will then present their work during a two-day film festival in Turku, taking place in the Media Liv AB independent cinema in the city centre. The programme will also include a selection of NISI MASA works to celebrate our 10th anniversary, as well as two feature films. After the project, the Cine-Boat films will be diffused through a DVD-book compilation and further screenings across our European network.
