New Turku 2011 Programme tickets soon available
In 2011, Turku will host a unique year full of culture as never seen before. The ticket availability for Capital of Culture programme events will be supplemented on 15 September with a magnificent selection of musical performances from jazz to opera.
The performance venue itself holds a special importance for the musical experience for the productions now becoming available. The audience can live and experience the operas within the Turku Castle courtyard and the Easter Oratorio booms wondrously in the Turku Cathedral. Chamber music can be experienced in various locations, including small village churches in the archipelago, the traditional Brinkhall Manor and St. Henry’s Ecumenical Art Chapel that represents modern wooden architecture in its fullest. Jazz rhythms will resonate from the sturdy walls of Logomo, the former engineering workshop.
Ticket sales are off to a good start
The Turku 2011 programme will provide novel experiences and extraordinary combinations also with the events that have been available through Lippupiste ticket offices since the summer: the heavy metal 1827 Infernal Musical, the Middle-Aged Hair musical featuring Turku residents, the 30th anniversary performance Dancing Tower by the AB Dance Company, universal soundtrack Energo, the dance performance Borrowed Light by Tero Saarinen Company and the international circus performance Cirque Dracula.
The Capital of Culture year ticket sales are off to a good start. The most popular attraction at the moment is the 1827 Infernal Musical that draws inspiration from the Great Fire of Turku.
Several of the 2011 events are once in a lifetime performances; in order to secure tickets, the reservations should be made early.
