Competition for young artists

Mia Hamari got the 1st prize of the Wäinö! Sculpture Exhibition 2011 –competition

Part of the Wäinö! Sculpture Exhibition 2011 was a competition. Winner received own solo exhibition in Turku in the year 2014.

The Wäinö! exhibition presents the talents and visions of both established and novice sculptors, highlighting the skills and narrative talent of a new generation of sculptors.

- Sculpture requires maturity and our quest artists have it, says the curator of the exhibition Jan Kenneth Weckman.

Strong and personal expression

Despite of maturity jury wants to give an opportunity to younger artist.

- Mia Hamari has a strong personal expression. Jury wants to support and Wäinö Aaltonen association wants to co-operate with her, says Seppo Sutela president of Wäinö Aaltonen association.

Mia Hamari’s pieces are made of wood, bone and leather for example, and she sculpts her dreams.
