The Honeycomb invites you to relax
The Cots of Darkness bring light and stimulus into the dark season in the form of three different cot-like artworks. Admission is free and you can drop in to warm up and relax.
Honeycomb, which is located in the Brahenpuisto Park nearby Turku Cathedral and is designed by artist Reino Koivula, replaces the park benches and thus indicates that the park can be a meeting place during winter time as well. The Honeycomb is open to the public 25 November–15 December 2010 on weekdays at 9 am–12 noon and 3 pm–6 pm, and on weekends at 1 pm–4 pm.
Terrastella and Bow are also open
The Cot of Darkness Terrastella, which is located at the courtyard of Turku Main Library and is designed by the Swedish artist Helena Hildur W, is a transparent and a star-like cot, which invites you to read and tell stories. Terrastella opened to the public on Tuesday 2 November and is open daily until 15 December 2010 during the opening hours of the main library. The Oy Italfalo Finland's terrace heater, which keeps the cot warm, is on from 3 pm in the afternoon. The works of art, which are in the Terrastella cot, are made by Josefiina Kiikka.
Bow, which is located in the Lönnrotinpuisto Park and is designed by sculptor Simo Helenius, is a cot where the truth and the tale mix. Kokka is open 16 October–15 December 2010 on weekdays at 9 am–12 noon and at 3 pm–6 pm, and on weekends at 1 pm – 4 pm.
The Cots of Darkness are carried out as a part of the 876 Shades of Darkness project which is included in the official Capital of Culture Programme 2011.
