Club Hopping with Turku 2011 in Paris November 11th
Turku 2011 European Capital of Culture and Turku Modern are organising together a series of club events to showcase contemporary Finnish electronic music, and to promote the forthcoming European Cultural Capital Year.
Turku, the European Capital of Culture in 2011, has every reason to be proud of its throbbing club music scene. The birthplace of Pan sonic and Sähkö Recordings, Turku has an extensive background in being the hub of electronic music in Finland - since the experiments of the underground movement of the 60’s to Finland´s first ware house raves in the late 80’s, and up to today’s vibrant, constantly developing club scene.

Mika Vainio – Live
Mika Vainio is a Finnish experimental electronic musician, perhaps best known for his works
with Ilpo Väisänen as Pan sonic (1993-2009), a duo famous for its explorations to the outer limits of the sound waves.
His highly acclaimed solo works, under his own name and under aliases like Ø, characterised by their analogue warmth and electronic harshness. Be it abstract drone works or minimal avant techno, Vainio is always creating unique, physical sounds. He has released on labels like Touch, Wavetrap, raster-noton, Blast First and Sähkö, and has been worked with Björk, Alan Vega of Suicide, Keiji Haino and Chicks on Speed, among others.
Dj Esko Routamaa
Along with Mika Vainio (Pan sonic) and Tommi Grönlund (Sähkö Recordings), Esko Routamaa was once a part of Hyperdelic Housers, the group responsible for organizing the first warehouse raves in Finland in the late 1980's. With over 35 years of collecting records, this gentleman knows his quality music – be it techno, folk or avantgarde electronica.
Next Tallinn
The Night Moves – Club Hopping with Turku 2011 tour kicked off at Shanghai World Expo in the end of May 2010. During the summer, clubbers were hopping in Helsinki and Turku, in the autumn the Tour continued to London, Stockholm and Tampere, now Paris and next Tallinn.
The Tour is organised in collaboration with Turku Modern, a festival of electronic music.
