Sauna, Tar and the River Aura
Hot Cube in the River Aura, in the middle of the city, is a minimalistic sauna made by sculptor Harri Markkula. The outer surface of the wooden and windowless Hot Cube is tarred. The visitors can observe life in the water through the lattices of the sauna floor. The sauna is accessed by a small bridge.
Hot Cube is designed to be a sensory site. The scents of fire, water, wood and tar strengthen the experience of archetypical basic elements. The steam of the ”water-based” sculpture is blissfully soft.
Hot Cube open Tue-Sun at 12 noon–6 pm
during 1 June–31 August 2011 (closed 24–26 June)
The rent for the whole sauna (50 minutes) 60 € (+ possible handling charges)
(a maximum of 2-4 persons/shift)

Hot Cube is a minimalistic, wooden sauna without windows and with the smell of the tar.

Bring your own towel and a swimsuit! Visitors can use the outdoor showers in the Ekoluoto Art Park. For environmental reasons people must wash themselves without shampoo or other washing products.
Look at also the other sauna rules.
The Museum Centre of Turku is responsible for turning up the heat.
Hot Cube is one of the four saunas, designed by different artists and constructed in different areas of Turku. Sauna will invite the public to come and look inside. And to take a sauna, of course. Private sauna reservations can be made during the summer season, with the saunas open for the public at certain times.
