By longboat or by canoe
With the guidance of Turun Soutupiiri, you can row for free and see the medieval Turku or marvel at Myllysilta. Saaristomeren melojat will offer canoes for single canoers and offer a companion canoer to the help and support first-timers if they do not have a partner. With a partner the experience is always better. The free canoeing is at one’s own risk. Shorter paddling trips can be taken without a reservation whenever there are canoes available, but longer rowing trips will always have to be reserved from the booking centre on the shore.
Harmony by walking
You can take a walk alone as well. The starting line is near Wäinö Aaltonen Museum and the walk takes a scenic route to see the fountain sculpture Harmonia. Nearby the museum you can marvel at the art saunas of the SaunaLab project (run by the Museum Centre of Turku). The art saunas will not leave you cold, whether or not you choose to take a sauna in them.
Refreshing birch drink, sauna turns and art are at offer.
For the first three hundred walkers, Cafe Wäinö will offer summery birch drink. At the same time the walkers can enjoy the On a Sauna Path exhibition. In the morning, 20 walkers will be rewarded a sauna turn in the Solaris sauna either at 4 pm or 5 pm. A walk in the morning and to sauna in the evening – there could not be a better start for a week!
In sweatpants to a museum – for an Art Spurt!
The Wäinö Aaltonen Museum offers a day visit for two for the price of one. You can see the topical Water – Sense and Sensation exhibition there. A light introduction into the world of art can be taken on the Art Spurt – a fifteen-minute guided tour – which is covered by the entrance fee. The guided tour starts from the museum lobby every hour from 11 am to 5 pm.
The Sauna Walk is co-arranged with the Central Park of Culture and Exercise. The other partners are Turun Soutupiiri and Saaristomeren melojat.
