Lantern Picnic

The atmospheric Lantern Picnic will entice both children and adults to enjoy a darkening August evening, lanterns, music and other events. The picnic will be held in Vartiovuori Park on Turku's Night of the Arts. Bring your own food, a blanket and a lantern!

The French lantern team, called ParadeDesign, will build to the park a magical setting with its fairytale lanterns. Top-class music will be provided by vibraphonist Severi Pyysalo and the Jussi Fredriksson trio, amongst others. The music will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 10:00 pm.

Programme for children between 5:00–7:00 pm in Turku Summer Theatre:

5:00-7:00 pm Lantern workshop
In the lantern workshop, you will be able to make your own decorative lanterns under the guidance of artist Suvi Aarnio. For this, bring your own glass jar!

5:45-6:15 pm Interactive magic show
Moka-Bella the clown will clown around, sing and amaze you with magic.

Lantern Picnic is organised by the Cultural Services Office of the City of Turku in co-operation with the Turku 2011 Foundation.

Pitch Black Theatre

In the Pitch Black Theatre, the audience serves as a bodily prop on a pitch black stage. The audience feels the presence of the actors and vice versa: the actors must adapt their movements and performance to the audience.
