Landing by the shores of River Aura, the ships will be open to the public, and the multinational crews will be available to present their work. Grand ships and various supplementary events will be a guaranteed highlight for the summer and one of the biggest public events during the year.
The regatta that succeeds the actual Tall Ships Races event starts from Klaipėda, Lithuania, and continues to Gdynia, Poland, from Turku. The Tall Ships Races event was previously organised in Turku during the summer of 2009, attracting a massive crowd of approximately 500,000 visitors.
The event is being produced by Sail Training International (STI) and the City of Turku. STI, an international charity organisation, consists of several national sail foundations and organisations that maintain sailing ships and organise sail training.
