Crime and Punishment is a story of people who have violated against themselves, each other or god. It’s a performance about quest and morals. The performance has been stripped off anything unnecessary. A small, intimate stage, one actor Markus Järvenpää, and the question of what makes a person good and how are we supposed to live this one life that has been given us?
The characters of Crime and Punishment talk constantly and over each other. It is impossible to find the ultimate truth, let alone the author’s unambiguous message. What remains is his endlessly precise and humorous vision of human life. The performance seeks to be like it’s author: polyphonic, crude and on the side of humanity.
Director/Dramaturgy: Tuomo Rämö, Sound design: Hannu Hauta-aho, Light design: Petri Suominen.
Crime and Punishment is a coproduction of Turku City Theatre and Theatre association KSR.
