Clay in the City is a project that is part of the European Capital of Culture program in Turku. Three ceramic artists, Pekka Paikkari, Karin Widnäs and Kim Simonsson have searched three most common urban eyesores in Turku and changed them into attractive works of ceramic art and landmarks worthy of a sightseeing visit.
Kimono created by Karin Widnäs rises to the Water treatment station, Iglu by Pekka Paikkari captivates the viewer at the Puutori and Temppeli by Kim Simonsson drapes the Electricity distribution facility in Kupittaa Park. Clay in the City project brings together professionals from many fields and also an architect, Tarmo Mustonen. The ceramic works of art turn neglected spaces into a new meeting places in the city of Turku.
