Aurinkobaletti (AB Dance Company) represented Turku's cultural know-how at the Matka 2011 Nordic travel fair in Helsinki. The ensemble performed parts of the 2008 The Square, the previous collaboration between Aurinkobaletti and the Dancing Tower -choreographer Sasha Pepelyaev. The fair audience reacted with either bewilderment or excitement to the imaginative and absurdly comical style sample. Those of us who live in Turku do not need to travel far in order to see the same sample, for Aurinkobaletti's dancers will be offering dance demonstrations around the campus of Turku University this week (see previous thread in this blog).

Pepelyaev's rich movement vocabulary and quirky sense of humour is to be expected also of Dancing Tower. From the complicated relationship issues of The Square we will move on to look at the many aspects of human culture, as Dancing Tower opens for public in April at Logomo.
