Kimmo Pohjonen’s performance doesn’t really fall into any traditional artistic genre. Accordion Wrestling is at once a sincere and serious tribute to Finland’s most successful Olympic sport; and a hilarious theatre performance to boot.
The performance will include a documentary-style narration, dancing, acrobatic athletics and orders barked out on an accordion. The accordion conveys Pohjonen’s emotions as he assumes different roles - like that of an outspoken wrestling referee or a supportive coach.
Kimmo Pohjonen has built a brilliant career in improvisation, rock, folk, avant-garde and classical music. He has performed at over 500 international festivals and in the most prestigious concert halls throughout the world. However, he considers Accordion Wrestling special.
